MY STORY
I am a self-taught mixed media artist specializing in cut fabric, paper and acrylic. I rely on instinct and intuition to guide me to produce art that evokes a sense of curiosity and playfulness. I believe that the subject isn’t what really matters-it’s the language of a painting-the play between shapes, tones, colors, textures, edges and lines. Everything else follows, including light, form, concepts-even personal beliefs and inspiration. My art always conveys a sense of humor or whimsy.

I have a BS Ed from the University of Missouri and MS Continuing Adult Ed from Northern Illinois University. My working life was in elementary and secondary education. After retirement, I was called back into creativity. Most days, I can be found in my studio with my two Norwich Terriers by my side -in either Florida or Illinois- diving into the unknowns and digging a little deeper-exploring new places, honing new skills and building new strengths as an artist.
"I never thought in my wildest dreams that this would happen," said Harris. "It gives me great joy to share it."
